Rafe Kelley
Evolve Move Play is a complete approach to physical culture rooted in understanding our evolved nature as movers and the primal importance of play. Evolve Move Play advocates training in nature as much as possible because this is where our bodies and minds evolved and returning to nature is hugely benificial. Evolve Move Play is based on progressively developing the capacity to move one's body through environments, manipulate external objects, deal with combat, and create aesthetic movement patterns. Through play and progressive methods we develop the freedom to move both effectively and creatively in entire spectrum of general human movement capacities.
About Me
Rafe Kelley, founder of Evolve Move Play, has been a movement teacher for 10 years, having practiced various martial arts since he was a small child, gymnastics starting at 15, and parkour starting at 23. In addition, he was lucky enough to grow up on the end of dirt road surrounded by woods and spent his childhood climbing trees, hiking up stream beds, swimming, and throwing rocks and sticks. Rafe co-founded and acted as the program developer and head coach for Parkour Visions in 2008, one of the most respected parkour teaching organizations in the world. Rafe is widely considered one of the top parkour coaches in the world, having taught seminars for Tempest Free Running, Crossfit Tacoma, Crossfit Portland, Crossfit Hoboken, Jogo Gym, Bainbridge Island Parks & Rec, and other organizations. Rafe brings a unique combination of personal movement competence, an analytical approach, extensive and comprehensive background knowledge, and a deep love of nature and play to his teaching.
